Does Drinking Cause You To Have Trouble Sleeping
This is Alcohol Mastery, my name's KevinO'Hara, and today I'm gonna be talking about the twelfth question of the Johns Hopkins20 questions. Before we get started, you can click the linkover here; click the button, if you wanna subscribe to the channel.Today's question is basically about you're sleeping habits, do you have trouble sleepingif you've been drinking. There's a lot of different caused by alcoholand one of the more serious is when you're asleep, you need to spend a third of yourlife sleeping, you need 7 or 8 hours a day. And there's a lot of problems that alcoholicsor problem drinkers face either through insomnia,
they can't go to sleep, they go to sleepbut then wake up after only a couple of hours and can't get back to sleep again.Their sleep patterns are broken because they have to keep getting up to go to the toilet. Many people use alcohol as a nightcap, to relax them before they go to bed, a snifterof brandy, a glass of wine, a couple of beers, that kind of thing. But the problem is that it doesn't really aid a good restful sleep. It doesn't help you to get into that REM state. In order to get into the REM's your body has to be free of alcohol.Depending on how much you've drank the night
before, you might never get into that REMstate. Your body can only metabolize one unit perhour. So, if you've had 3 or 4 pints of Guinness,it could be up to 10 units of alcohol, so that's 10 hours before that's completelyout of your system, and before you can go into that REM sleep. Now, when I was drinking, I never had a problemgoing to sleep, if that's what you'd call it.As soon as my head hit the pillow, I was gone; I was out like a light.Sometimes I don't even remember going into
bed, so I think that my brain had shut offbefore I'd even gotten into the bedroom. But the problem was, I'd only be comatosefor two or three hours. Then I'd wake up, I'd need to go to thetoilet, I'd need to go two or three times a night. The worst one, what started happening to me, was I'd wake up after two or three hoursand my heart would just be pounding inside my chest, and I could hear it in my head. That really scared me. I'd have to get up and walk around and havesome water and relax myself before I could even get back into bed. That was one of the scarier parts, and I don't
know what was going on, I never went to a about it but it definitely put the shits up me. How Does Smoking Affect Your Face
Nowadays, I smoke about a pack a month. I smoke two packs a day. If I'm working bothjobs in the same day, then it can be like three or four. If I'm drinking, then like five or six. Been smoking since Iwas probably fifteené I started smokingbecause I was in a play. My excuse was method acting, but deep down
I really wanted to justtry smoking cigarettes. I went to college and started drinking and just had an occasional cigarette while drinking and it took me here. I know smoking's bad for me. It's probably something that I want to quit eventually but it's a lot easier said than done.
Meredith I've quit for, afew times, a couple weeks tops and then end up just buying a pack again. Edd I hope to get scared out of smoking cigarettes anymore, and finally be able to fully quit. Meredith I'm upset with myself that I have decided to pick up this habit and hopefully seeing the physical
changes to my face, it'll help me make a positive choice inmy life to quit smoking. I don't think it'll change my mind, but it's worth giving it a shot. (sigh) Aww! Oh my god. Oh shit, oh wow, ahh.
I'm so old. The craziest part aboutit is it doesn't look like I have makeup on, it justlooks like I'm an old man. Ah, that's awful. Meredith Linesaround the lips will make my lipstick bleed, and Ido like to wear lipstick. Edd The looseness of the skin gives it a very almost frail texture.
Michael Well my teethare absolutely disgusting and I'm kind of takenback, it's pretty bizarre. If this is what my outside appearance looks like, just from smoking cigarettes, then I cannot even imaginewhat my insides look like. It's kinda depressing, I just, I feel like I'm an old man. After this experience, I definitely
