Cold Remedy Tea with Turmeric Ginger Honey Citrus Honeysuckle

As the weather turns colder I am more proneto getting sick with a bad cold or flu. So I often make this Honey Citron Turmeric Teato help me feel better. It tastes so much better than the drugstore cough syrup andit really works! I'm using 2 small lemons that i'll thinlyslice and add to a bowl. I'll be sure to take the seeds out though cause I don'twant any of that in the tea. The citrus in this recipe is loaded with vitamin C, whichis known to support the body's natural defenses.

Lemon and its juice is known to decreasesthe strength of the flu and the cold virus and it also reduces phlegm. Then I'll take a whole orange and thinlyslice it then I'll add it to my bowl. I'm leaving the rind on because that's whereall the natural oil are and it will really help flavor the tea later. Orange boosts immunity. Next, I have a knob of ginger about 2 incheslong that I'll peel. Then in my mortar and pestle I'll grind it up and add it intothe bowl. The ginger will soothe your scratchy throat after coughing.

My next ingredient is slightly unusual butsuper powerful. I'm adding in 1 tbsp of turmeric. Turmeric is a spice that can befound in most grocery stores but it's been used in ancient Ayurvedic and Chinese medicinesto clear infection and inflammation. Feel free to adjust the turmeric based on yourpreference. It can be quite strong. Finally i'm adding 1 cup of raw, organichoney. Raw organic honey is minimally processed and contains many nutrients. It's like liquidgold that helps with that incessant coughing, and it really helps with sleeping. It containstryptophan so this is great to get some rest! Once i've added all the ingredients together,I'll give it a good mix and store it in

a jar. The honey will draw out the liquidfrom the citrus and it'll become very syrupy. I first experienced homemade healing tea whenI was really sick and my mom made me this concoction of lemon, rosemary, and honey.Rosemary has its own medicinal properties for coughing but I really wanted to use Gingerand Turmeric so I came up with this recipe. Whenever I'm not feeling well I'll takea heaping tablespoon of this tea mixture and add it into a cup of hot water. Sleep Remedy Tea Lavender Date Honey Honeysuckle

Have you ever lied awake in the wee hoursof the night, tossing and turning, trying to fall asleepé I've been there… I'd stareat the clock and watch hour after hour pass by with increasing frustration. Well hereI have a sleepinducing, stress relieving lavender date tea with some steamed milk andan extra boost of Valerian root. it's not only a soothing drink but it'll activatethose hormones to help you sleep. First I am starting with some dried lavenderthat I got at the store! Dried Lavender can be hard to find. I found this one at target.Lavender is known for its calming and relaxing properties and has been used to alleviateinsomnia, anxiety, depression, and restlessness.

I also love it's scent. Mmm smells so fresh!Next I have a medjool date. You know how they say that eating turkey makes you sleepyé It'sbecause it contains tryptophan, an amino acid that makes you sleepy. Well, Medjool Datesalso have an abundant amount tryptophan. I'm just going to remove the pit for the tea.I'll put 1 tbsp of lavender and the medjool date into my tea infuser and place it in mymug. Next I'll add enough hot water just to cover the tea infuser. I'll let it steepfor 10 minutes to fully extract the relaxing benefits and flavor. If you want an additionalboost and sleeping aid, I have some Valerian root and I'll add about 20 drops into thetea. Long ago, Valerian was used as a natural

treatment for insomnia without negative effects.Finally I'll fill the mug up with steamed milk that I heated up and frothed, then swirlsome honey on top to sweeten up the tea, and give it another sprinkle of lavender. Having steamed milk before I go to bed isalways so comforting, so this Lavender Date tea sleep remedy really does the trick. Thisreally helps me unwind and relax before bed.
