Magnesium A Natural Way To Treat Constipation Insomnia and Muscle Tension
Magnesium is essential to life, period. Itjust is. It's one of the most prevalent minerals in the body. It's involved in over300 metabolic pathways in the body. You're never going to get adequate magnesium in amultivitamin. Magnesium is found in dark, leafy greens. Almonds are a really good sourceof magnesium. I have my patients supplement with magnesium because so many of the issuesthat I see are magnesiumrelated. Magnesium deficiency can cause leg cramps and migraines.Insomnia from a lack of magnesium is a really common problem. Muscle tension can be causedby lack of magnesium and lots of my patients have muscle tension. They're just workingtoo hard. Magnesium will help with all of
those things. So I really like Natural Calmbrand. This is available everywhere such as Whole Foods and other health food stores.Natural Calm magnesium is so easy because the one thing about magnesium is it's kindof a large molecule, so sometimes to get a good dose of pills, you kind of have to takelike, three or four pills and nobody likes taking… I mean, some people are just pillpeople, and that's totally fine, but most of my patients are like, “No more pills. It's like, they totally are just, “No more pills. With Natural Calm magnesiumI have my patients do about a teaspoon in water before bed, and they just kind of worktheir way up in dosage. There are different
flavors. I think the raspberry lemonade tastesbetter. It kind of makes a little fizzy drink, but you could make it as a tea as well. Thisis just magnesium citrate. Some people are a little bit sensitive to magnesium if theytend towards diarrhea; if their stools are looser, magnesium can really accelerate that.On the flip side, if a person has had chronic constipation issues, this is typically theirMecca. And the other thing to say is that magnesium can drop blood pressure, so peoplewho are already really hypotensive, careful with taking too much at once. You really justwant to kind of break up your doses throughout the day, and you can add sea salt to the dietto kind of bring up the blood pressure if
the blood pressure's too low. But I thinkthat magnesium is really wonderful. The only other place to really caution with magnesiumis if people have kidney damage. It's actually really helpful for kidney stones, but if peoplehave kidney damage, like they're on dialysis, that is a place where they would need to checkwith their physician, but otherwise, I love magnesium across the board. You had a questionon magnesium. So her comment was that she had heard all of the beneficial health thingsabout magnesium, but she was also told that it really helps just keep the colon clean, and it does. I mean, if you dose up with magnesium the same way as if you dose up with vitaminC, you will really promote a looser stool.
The higher up you go, you will just see adirect effect, so it does help you clean out constantly. So in terms of a gentle detoxon a regular basis, magnesium will keep your bowels moving. Depending on your body typeI recommend taking 400 milligrams to 1,000 milligrams of magnesium per day. Start witha teaspoon of Natural Calm magnesium. Make sure you tolerate that, and then just workyour way up. So basically start with 150 milligrams and just kind of inch your way up and makesure you're tolerating the amount without diarrhea. Most of my patients take 600 milligramseasily in a sitting, but it's better to kind of start slow and work your way up.
How to Cure ADHD Naturally
Hey guys. Axe here, founder of axe and of functional medicine. Today I'm going to share with you in this tutorial thetop foods, supplement, natural treatments, and essential oils in the treatment of ADHD.And so I guarantee that if you follow these tips with yourself or a child you're workingwith, you're going to notice great improvements in focus and overall reducing those ADHDlikesymptoms. The first thing I want to tell you is, I wasdiagnosed with ADHD my entire life growing up as a child, and I can still remember todaymy mom going and getting me tested all the time, because I had so much trouble focusing. And there are some things that I did later
on in life that I really found made a majorimpact in my ability to focus. But I want to start off saying this, ADHDis not really a disease. ADHD is people, and whether it be a male or a female, it's reallythe way your brain chemistry works, and some of it's personality traits. And so I'll talkabout this a little later on, but most people with ADHD, it's much more male driven, especiallymale children, and also a lot of times there are different types of learning. People canbe kinesthetic learners or auditory learners, and so I'll talk about that as well. There is no doubt, whether it is a personalitytrait or a nutritional deficiency that these
tips will help. So let's start off talkingabout an ADHD diet. Now number one thing most of you know is you've got to remove sugarand specifically gluten from children or adults with ADHD. So again, sugar is a major problembecause it will cause bloodsugar spikes, which then will in turn with those bloodsugarspikes it really causes focus levels to drop when the bloodsugar spikes down, which willcause lack of focus. And then if it's on a high spike, it will cause that hyperactivitybehavior. So again, getting sugar out of the diet, especially processed sugar is numberone. The next step in terms of diet is loadingyour child up with healthy protein, fat and
fiber during the meals. That's going to keepthe bloodsugar steady. And so following a nutrient dense diet, a diet high in vegetables, fruits, things like nuts and seeds and then organic meats, that is an ideal diet for anybodywith ADHD symptoms. Also a diet high in omega3 fatty acids. And that leads me into the top supplementsfor treating ADHD. The number one supplement is fish oil. For most kids I recommend takinganywhere between 500 and 1000 milligrams of fish oil a day. And we know that there areseveral studies showing that fish oil and cod liver oil have been very effective inthe treatment of ADHD.
The next supplement that can help ADHD isa vitamin B complex. And vitamin B complex contains things like vitamin B6, vitamin B12,folate and biotin, and these vitamins are essential for supporting the nervous systemand brain and improving focus. In fact, vitamin B12 is very important, because it really helpsin improving energy levels and cellular function. And so for that reason, taking a good qualityvitamin B complex is critical. Also, children with ADHD tend to consume more carbohydrates, and so B vitamins also really support the body in processing and metabolizing carbohydratesas well. So again, best supplements there are fish oil and vitamin B.
And I want to talk about something else Ithink is incredible. Essential oils for ADHD. And the most effective essential oils arevetiver and cedarwood oil. In fact, a study was published in the Journal of American MedicalAssociation, and they found that vetiver oil had a 100%effective rating on treating ADHDand cedarwood oil an 83% effective rating. And so both of those essential oils are effectivein the treatment of ADHD. And what I would do is basically take twodrops of vetiver oil, two drops of cedarwood oil, and basically just put a total of fourdrops, and just rub them on a child's neck or your own neck, typically in the neck area, and then up around the temple area. And if
